Research fellows / non-tenured assistant professors (ricercatore a tempo determinato)

The IslHornAfr project announces two open positions of Ricercatore for the period of three years (extendable by two) to start on 1 October 2013. The economic treatment is €48927 p.a. (see http://www.unifi.it/upload/sub/money/2012/ric_td_lg_costo_tp.xls for details).

Dates

Application deadline is 29 August 2013 (the date of the postal stamp is valid, i.e. all documents sent within 29 August shall be considered even if they arrive later).
Pre-selected candidates shall be invited to an interview some time in September 2013; the date and the composition of the commission shall be announced at a later date. The date of the interview shall be communicated via email and published online on the main call site.

Main

MA degree in a relevant field of Oriental studies

Proficiency in the field of Arabic philology (other Islamic languages are acceptable)

Proficiency in Classical Arabic; capability to read handwritten (manuscript) text

Proficiency in Islamic religious literature

Proficiency in English (written and spoken)

Ability to work with databases

Desirable

PhD degree in Islamic, Arabic or African studies, with a thesis on a philological/literary topic

Knowledge of XML mark-up and/or experience in digital philology

Degrees obtained outside Italy must be confirmed by a legalized translation and a certificate of equivalence ("equipollenza") provided by an Italian consular representation. For citizens of the EU a legalized translation may suffice.

For the application to be considered, the applicant must transfer a fee of €10,50 to the Universita' degli studi di Firenze, postal current bank account 5504 with the payment subject "Contributo partecipazione selezione Ricercatore presso il Dipartimento di Lingue, Letterature e Studi Interculturali" and your full name.

Post-doctorate positions (assegno di ricerca)

The IslHornAfr project announces two post-doctoral positions for the period of three years (extendable by one) to start on 1 September 2013. The economic treatment is €19367 p.a. corresponding to a monthly payment of €1614.

It must be supplied with relevant documents (legalized wherever necessary) and publications (copies must be supplied with the authenticity declaration, Annex 2 to the full text) and a list of all submitted documents (Annex 4 to the full text). A CINECA form (Annex 3 to the full text) must be also provided.
